Presses elevator button to ascend to the 6th floor.

This body full of confusion sways back in forth
In this ascending egg shell white hallowed vessel.

The LED elevator sign flashes 1st floor.

While holding two Mango Dragonfruit drinks
From the local coffee shop, this man full of
Decisions is wondering what to do.

The LED elevator sign flashes 2nd floor.

Learning how to love, how to cherish,
How to nurture, and foster a relationship
Was never on any syllabi. It is a lesson
Filtered through the flashing pictures
On billboards. Love is taught through
The movies created by those tranced by
The spell of unpredictability and lust.

The LED elevator sign flashes 3rd floor.

Damn, this elevator goes fast
Mumbled the man whose hands
Are drenched in the condensation
Of drinks and inner turmoil.
He wants her, he needs her,
But fear it is too late.

The LED elevator sign flashes 4th floor.

This man is six feet tall with small locks for hair,
And skin blessed by the Yoruba people themselves.
It’s hard to let go, especially when every opportunity
Made it possible for love to flourish.

The LED elevator sign flashes 5th floor.

Eyes bounce around the four corners of the
White chariot. He is sorry. He is remorseful.
He wishes he could have gotten his shit
together, and yet…

The LED elevator sign flashes 6th floor.

The man with Mango Dragonfruit in both palms
Walks out of the box full of past lives. He begins
To accept that this will be an uncomfortable
Experience. He accepts that he created unintentional
Errors, thus leading to unintentional consequences.

The man with Mango Dragonfruit approaches the door
And waits for the truth to consume him.
